Giving FAQ's

Who is eligible to contribute to the Cargill Cares Employee Disaster Relief Fund?
Any individuals (employees, family shareholders, non-employees, etc.), Cargill businesses, customers and partner organizations will be able to contribute to the EDRF, to support Cargill employees in time of need.  A contribution to the EDRF is optional and not a requirement.

Are employees able to designate their contribution to support a specific employee or coworker?
No, due to US IRS rules the EDRF cannot accept contributions directed towards a specific individual or family.  All contributions made to the EDRF will be made available to all eligible employees. 

Can a work group or business host a fundraiser to support employees within a specific location or team?
No, due to US IRS rules, all contributions will need to be made through the EDRF, which will be made available to all eligible employees.

Do I need to give to be eligible to apply for assistance from the Cargill Cares Employee Disaster Relief Fund?
Gifts to the Cargill Cares Employee Disaster Relief Fund are voluntary and are not required to apply for assistance.

Can I designate my contribution to a specific person?
While gifts cannot be designated for a specific individual or event,  all gifts will be used to provide assistance to Cargill employees in need who meet the criteria of the program.

Are my gifts to the fund tax-deductible? Will I get a statement at the end of the year?
E4E Relief is a U.S. based 501c3 public charity. The tax treatment of both grants and donations to and from the Relief Fund vary by country and while we do not provide tax advice related to the taxation or deductibility of each of these respectfully, E4E Relief works to ensure that the individual donor or grantee is made of aware that there may be tax implications for their grant/donation.  Employees should consult a local tax advisor for guidance. 

A gift acknowledgment will be provided for all gifts. Contributions made by credit card on The Cargill Cares Employee Disaster Relief Fund’s online donation portal will be acknowledged by email at the time of the donation. Contributions of $250 or more that are made directly to the Relief Fund outside of employee payroll contributions will be acknowledged with a written confirmation in accordance with IRS regulations. Cash gifts, depending on the amount, may or may not require a receipt for tax purposes. Please check with your tax advisor for more information.
